Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. How does the Habit Strength score work?

Most habit trackers use an unforgiving "streak count" that completely resets your progress back to zero after a single missed day. Loop Habits uses an advanced exponential smoothing formula:

  • Every time you complete a habit, your score increases.
  • When you miss a day, your score gently decreases rather than resetting to zero.
  • This accurately reflects real human habit formation: missing one workout after two months doesn't erase your physical fitness.
2. How do I track numerical habits (like glasses of water or pages read)?

When creating a new habit, select "Numerical Value" as the type. You can set a custom target value (e.g., 2000) and unit (e.g., ml). Tapping the checkmark on the main screen brings up an input sheet where you can log exact amounts or increment values during the day.

3. Why am I not receiving habit reminder notifications?

Reminders are scheduled locally on your device. If alerts are not appearing, please check the following:

  • Open your iPhone Settings > Notifications > Loop Habits and ensure Allow Notifications is toggled ON.
  • Verify that Focus Modes (such as Do Not Disturb or Sleep) are not silencing alerts from Loop Habits.
  • Ensure a specific reminder time is set on your habit in its edit screen.
4. How do I restore my Loop Pro purchase on a new or second device?

If you reinstalled the app or upgraded to a new iPhone:

  1. Ensure you are signed in with the same Apple ID used to make the original purchase.
  2. Open Loop Habits and tap the Settings tab.
  3. Tap "Restore Purchases".
  4. The app will automatically sync with the App Store and restore your Pro access without charging you again.
5. How do I manage or cancel my Loop Pro subscription?

All subscription billing is handled directly and securely by Apple:

  1. Open your iPhone Settings app.
  2. Tap your Name / Apple ID banner at the top.
  3. Tap Subscriptions.
  4. Select Loop Habits and choose Cancel Subscription.

You will retain Pro access until the conclusion of your current billing period.

6. How do I transfer my habit data to a new phone?

Because Loop Habits stores data 100% locally on your device for privacy:

  • Method 1 (JSON Backup): On your old phone, go to Settings > Export Backup (JSON) and save the file to your iCloud Drive or AirDrop it to your new phone. On the new phone, open Settings > Import from Backup and select the file.
  • Method 2 (Full Device Restore): Standard Apple iCloud or Finder/iTunes backups will automatically transfer your app data to your new iPhone during device setup.
7. How do I completely erase all my habit records?

You can permanently delete individual habits by swiping left on any habit card, or you can purge the entire local database by navigating to Settings > Reset All Habits & History. This action is instantaneous and cannot be undone.
